- DESCRIPTION
- The technique at work in this vase - overlay glass, or Uberfangglas - has been practised in Bohemia since the early 19th century. A gather of deep ruby glass is encased in an outer layer of opaque white, and skilled cutters then wheel-cut through the white to reveal the colour beneath in precise oval windows, hand-painted with polychrome floral bouquets and gold banding.
