Glass & Crystal
Stellar Field - Amber Globe
Jon Price
- DESCRIPTION
- Crystalline glazes represent ceramics at its most technically demanding. Zinc silicate crystals are nucleated within the molten glaze and grown during a precisely controlled six-to-twelve hour cooling cycle at temperatures exceeding 2,100F. Kiln loss runs between 30 and 50 percent per firing. This spherical vessel carries a galaxy of rust-amber and deep blue-purple crystals that bloom across the surface like a stellar map.
