Blue Blossom - Cloisonne

Chinese Cloisonne tradition
DESCRIPTION
The cobalt blue ground of Chinese cloisonne - achieved through powdered lapis-tone enamel fired against a brass body - is one of the most recognisable colour statements in Asian decorative art. Against it, the plum blossom and a single bird in flight are classical references with century-deep resonance. Each individual petal is separated from its neighbour by a fine brass wire partition bent and soldered by hand.
