Plum Blossoms

Miya (Contemporary East Asian)

DESCRIPTION: Plum blossoms carry one of the oldest and most enduring meanings in East Asian art: resilience, renewal, the quiet courage of beauty that arrives before winter has fully passed. Miya works within this tradition while bringing to it a distinctly contemporary sensibility. The background is not the flat wash of classical woodblock but a richly weathered surface of layered turquoise, silver and grey, textured and aged, as though the wall itself remembers every season the tree has survived.
